Fire Guts Offices At Kwara State Polytechnic

FIRE gutted some offices of the Directorate of Student Services at Kwara state Polytechnic Ilorin about five rooms were affected.



Rector of the Polytechnic Mr. Mas’ud Elele, confirm to newsmen that the incident occur
about 1.30am on Wednesday he said they called the fire brigade and they were there and all their principal officers.

“We were able to bring the fire under control before it spread to other academic areas. Some files were destroyed and documents that were in the file cabinet and some air conditioners.

“We can not quantify the loss. There was not loss of lives or injury.Nothing happened to anybody in the campus I was there up through. The fire started about 1.30am, the fire brigade came in about 2.25am and by 3.15am the fire was put off. We alerted the two offices of the fire brigade and they came.

We are happy with them It will not lead to stoppage of academic activities. Only some offices used for storing of some documents were affected. We are on Infact right now, examination will start next week. Normal activities are going on.

We want to register our appreciation to the students.They assisted us a lot in putting off the fire. We are writing them for that show our appreciation. We have also informed the necessary authorities.We would not know the cause of the fire. We are investigating. The Council is meeting tomorrow and we will thoroughly investigate it to prevent a recurrence”

Of course it will always be d office where document is store dat will always gotted by fire.

Thank God no life was lost. Things can be replaceable but a life can't.
