These living conditions are Worse than hell, yet some of the inmates may be innocent here and some may only be held for minor offences among those awaiting trial . So where is justice here . Reply"Justice delayed may be justice denied" as these deplorable conditions can only harden non criminal detainees Nigeria can only be pushed by International Human rights organizations to rectify the big mess . Quote from: dilbert100 on 5-07-2013 10:50 AM not the best is it.....however...dont break the law!! ![]() ![]() Do you read the article at all? Majority of the people in this prisons are awaiting trial, some for over 8 years, some of them do not even commit the offence they are detained for, I doubt you have got any dealings with Nigeria Police before? most of these people are suppose to have been bailed or put in Police station against bringing them to court the next day but the Police are lazy and dont like going to court because of the adjournments, it take up their times and dat usually disturb them been on the street or at the station collecting their usual bribe. They prefer to dump them in prison, if the accused are unfortunate to raise the bail condition. FOR EXAMPLE DO YOU KNOW HOW MANY PEOPLE ARE IN PRISON FOR WANDERING, in their father land?

Quote from: bluewater on 5-07-2013 11:07 AM they deserve it ![]() ![]() Do they? this is the kind of attitude that will not make Nigeria to improve, are you sure majority of this people are guilty and sentenced? No, over half of them are awaiting trial, some for 10 years, some dont even know why they are there, is that fair, majority are there because they cant raise their bail money, when a Nigerian judge will set a bail of 2 million for somebody who was arrested for wandering. Imagine. A lot is wrong with the country. This is unfair. I m not condoning crime, but I m sure and know with my experience with the Police, they are the most barbaric of human beings with no human feeling as far as you cant give them money, even when they know, you are innocent you are done for.

We all no how bad it is committing a crime. Nevertheless, these prisoners should not be treated like an animals or chicken put together in a single place and later die as a result of the congestion. America and other parts of the countries prison is as fine as one those beautiful houses we can get here in Nigeria. aside from that, these prisoners should be tries and exonerated as well. Reply

i would not like to jump into conclusion. but if this is a nigerian prison, then the poster should please tell us the names. people are fond of picking up articles and pictures from sites that are not nigerian and go ahead to label them as nigerian. Reply
