KANO - On Monday the 8th July 2013 the minister of Special duties Alhaji Tanimu Turaki is reported to have announced on Radio France International that the Federal Government and Boko Haram have signed a ceasefire deal.  If true it means that this breakthrough is coming on the eve of the Muslim Holy month of Ramadan.

The question is whether this is a Boko Haram manoeuvre to restock after recent setback or they are trying to use this quiet period of fasting to survey potential targets?  Is this really the end of the war with Boko Haram? Can they be trusted?

If so, what was the senseless killings all about and why did the government allow it knowing it could do a deal to spare lives?
