Jonathan Appoints Onyeka Onwenu As Director Of 'National Centre for Women Dvpt'

President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan has approved the appointment of a iconic singer, Onyeka Onwenu, as the Executive Director/Chief Executive Officer of the National Centre for Women Development, NCWD, Abuja.

She is expected to assume duties immediately.

Good luck. However as a cynic I personally do not think anything realistic will come out of the 'group.' Women in Nigeria are still in the same position they were since the beginning of time. We are portrayed as "slaves" to the menfolk and as sex machines that can be used and abused! Thanks to most Nigeria film portrayals women are seen as devious and not able to suceed without killing off female opponents or by selling themselves short!.

However I respect Onyeka and hope she mskes the new role she gas been given relevant to this day and age.

We do not want anither Maryam Babaginda type of women forum - Better Life for Women - where nothing better came out of it. Or Sani Abacha's wife attemots at getting women involved. The only thing that came out of that was waste of money and quicklythought up schemes that got women nowhere!

So please do something that people - the womenfolk will remember you for.
