Kidnapped Sokoto Millionaire Released After N50m Paid to Kidnappers Through

Alhaji Abu Dankure (pictured), a businessman and millionaire from Sokoto State, regained his freedom on the evening of November 11, 2013, Monday, after the payment of ransom by his family. 70-year-old business mogul was kidnapped on November 7, 2013, Thursday.
According to SaharaReporters, who spoke to a family source, the sum of N50 million was paid for his freedom. The family was able to raise the sum of N30 million, while the government of Sokoto state paid the balance N20 million.
On how the ransom was paid, a family source disclosed that the money was paid in dollars, and the payment was done in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, through the agent of the kidnappers.
Governor Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko of Sokoto State paid a visit to the family of the 70 years-old business mogul on November 11, 2013. He assured them that Alhaji Abu Dankure was in good health condition and would soon be reunited with them.
Al-Mustapha Sani, DSP, the Sokoto state police command, through a spokesman, confirmed the kidnapping last week and said no arrest was made in connection with the incident. However, Kure's car was recovered in Gagi area of Kware Local Government a few hours after the incident.
Alhaji Abu Dankure is a political associate of Governor Wamakko, patronage from the Sokoto state government mostly receiving juicy contracts that runs into hundreds of millions of naira.
