A 400level Law student of Obafemi Awolowo University, OAU, Oladipo Olalekan Ige, committed suicide on Monday March 3rd after allegedly being jilted by a girl.
Dipo was found dead in his apartment at the Asherifa area of Ile-Ife on Monday evening. He'd killed himself with poison.
The student who is said to be above average academically had been threatening to kill himself for weeks before he finally did. According to his friends, Dipo's girlfriend of almost a year broke things off with him in early February and all means to get her back didn't work.
Friends said he was a loner and always talked about being depressed and so didn't think the break up affected him so bad when he started to withdraw into himself. And nobody really took his threat to commit suicide seriously until his body was found in his off campus residence. His body has been taken away to his home town of Ibadan by his family members. Suicide is never the answer!

Depression is an illness...he probably just needed someone to talk to ...And to let him know that there is plenty of other fish in the sea ...R.I.P anyway.

We as Nigerians don't like taking things serious, i think its time people will be educated about the signs of depression, this is not the devils act, evil spirite, demon or him been foolish. DEPRESSION is real, it makes people withdrawn from their friends, family and daily routine. TALK and SUPPORT your friends and people around you whenever the threaten to KILL themselves.
