At least seven people have died and several others injured after thousands of panicked job-seekers stampeded during a government recruitment drive at the national stadium this morning, Saturday, March 15, 2014.

Thousands of youths gathered to apply for jobs with the immigration department before the tragic incident occurred.  One witness said the stampede broke out as applicants surged towards a central stage.

See more pictures after the cut.

I hope the Federal government is seeing what has happened. This shows the level of unemployment in Nigeria. I am aware also that the senators and Ministers must have allocated the existing vacancies to their party faithful and their relations. It is a pity and great shame to PDP and the federal government

Terrible. If these applicants only knew that the "recruitment" was just a SCAM.

I am sure that the powers that be have ALREADY chosen those "applicants" they WANT!!!!!

Terrible.

Shows the high unemployment rate plauging Nigeria.
