Budding Nollywood actress, Princess Eze from Arondizogu in Imo State never planned to join the make-believe world. The Business Administration undergraduate of Lagos State University, who was born in Owerri and raised in Lagos, was told by a friend to try her hands in acting as a way of getting over her boyfriend who ditched her for another girl.

That soon became a vocation, then a passion and now the beautiful Lasuite cannot imagine life without acting.

According to her, the journey was anything but easy. Hear her story:I first came into Nollywood in 2011, after I broke up with my former boyfriend. A friend of mine sensed I was down emotionally and wanted to encourage me.

He asked me to accompany him to an audition alongside some of his other friends .

When we got there, they gave us scripts to read as well as rehearse. I wanted to drop the script but my friend asked me to give it a shot, telling me it would help me to get over the pain inflicted on me by my ex boyfriend.

There and then, they cast me for a role.

But after that, I went for more auditions but things were not as easy as that first time.

Back then, I went for many auditions. In some, they would pick me but they would not call me for the job; and in some, they would call me but before I got there, they would have given the role to someone else.

It was so discouraging that I had to stop going for auditions for a while and decided to face my study.

I didn’t go back until I met Mr Kingsley Omoefe through a friend who decided to give me my first substantial role.

I later joined a theatre group to sharpen my skills as an actress and returned finally in 2012 to begin again.

My journey has been dogged with many difficulties but I thank God I am beginning to find my foot in the industry.

I have featured in some soaps like Yours Faithful; The Couples;Single Ladies and others.

For home videos, I have featured in Pregnant Hawker;,Private Parts, Daddy Goes toSchool and BB Anointing, among others My impression of Nollywood generally, is that of a place filled with kings , queens , princes and princesses, a place for intelligent and creative people.

For you to be successful as an actress, you must first of all, build a personality that is endearing to the people and you must be sound in English.

You must also be open to learn, be humble, determined, intelligent and friendly.

No doubt, there is segxwal harassment in the industry and it is one of the reasons some actresses have not been able to gain any measure of prominence because they cannot play the game by those rules.

We are all different from one another.

What some people can take, others cannot take it. So, I always walk away whenever I come across such people.

I believe there are still good and decent ones out there. So, I will take my time.

In this industry, one has to be unique. Some of the things I believe are unique about me are ability to control my temper and my good nature. In addition, I have a good height, nice skin colour and good figure and I speak good English.

I am also very intelligent and creative.

As an actress, I can take up any role given to me. Just give me my script and I would bring the character to life.

I can go as far as going Nood, if my doing so, has a message to pass on to the society.

But if it only for a moral reasons then count me out of it.

As for having sex on set, I don’t think that is acting any more.

I don’t think any actor in their right senses would do such. It is against our tradition. For going Nood, yes, I can do that if I am passing a message, say, concerning rape or acting a role where my character is that of a tribe that goes Nood as part of its tradition.

I have people I want to be like in the industry. I love Genevieve Nnaji, Stephanie Okereke, Omotola and many others.

kind of image they have built for themselves over the years.

Their acting is superb. I love Mercy Johnson too. I love watching her because she makes everything she does on screen so real.

There is Mama Gee too, she’s simply outstanding and a legend in her right. For love, love is something I don’t even want to think about any more.

I went to Nollywood to forget about my ex boyfriend who broke my heart. Now, I just believe there is nothing called love.

All we confuse for love, to me, is simply lust. So, if I am going to settle down with any man, I am not going to be looking for love, rather, I would be looking for someone who is compatible with me.

Seriously, what I look for in a man is; his attitude, manner of approach, his ability to accept other people just the way they are and most definitely, what he does for living matters a lot.
