According to the Poverty and Justice Bible there are more than 2,000 references in the
Bible to justice and the poor. Jim Wallis once famously took a pair of scissors and cut out all the
passages relating to justice and the poor and when done the Bible was full of holes. This action
led Richard Stearns to title his book, The Hole in our Gospel. By this he meant we need to
understand God’s heart for justice and the poor if we are to fully understand the good news of the
gospel.
Bruce Strom has written a book entitled Gospel Justice. In it he walks through the Bible
demonstrating that justice is part of the very nature of God, is represented in how he acts toward
us and is the foundation of his rule and reign. As people created in His image we need to reflect
our creator and care about the things He cares about. One of those primary concerns is justice.
God’s Character DEMANDS justice.
He is the Rock, his works are perfect, and all his ways are just. A faithful God who does no wrong,
upright and just is he. Deut. 32:4
The works of his hands are faithful and just; all his precepts are trustworthy. Psalms 111:7
The LORD within her is just; he does no wrong. Morning by morning he dispenses his justice, and every
new day he does not fail. Zeph. 3:5
For the LORD is a God of justice. Isa. 30:18
God’s Conduct DISPLAYS justice.
With righteousness he will judge the needy, with justice he will give decisions for the poor of the earth.
Isa. 11:4
The Almighty is beyond our reach and exalted in power; in his justice and great righteousness, he does
not oppress. Job 37:23
He rules the world in righteousness and judges the peoples with equity. The LORD is a refuge for the
oppressed, a stronghold in times of trouble. .. The LORD is known by his acts of justice; the wicked are

ensnared by the work of their hands. Ps. 9:8-9, 16.

God’s Court DEPLOYS justice.
Righteousness and justice are the foundation of your throne. Ps. 89:14.
Your throne, O God, will last for ever and ever; a scepter of justice will be the scepter of your kingdom.
Ps. 45:6.
I know that the LORD secures justice for the poor and upholds the cause of the needy. Ps. 140:12
The LORD takes his place in court; he rises to judge the people. Isa. 3:13.

We are made to reflect the image of God.
Our Character needs to reflect His Character.
Blessed are those who act justly, who always do what is right. Ps. 106:3
For the LORD loves the just and will not forsake his faithful ones. Ps. 37:28
The righteous care about justice for the poor, but the wicked have no such concern. Prov. 29:7
Cursed is anyone who withholds justice from the foreigner, the fatherless or the widow. Dt. 27:19
Our Conduct needs to reflect God’s Conduct.
Good will come to those who are generous and lend freely, who conduct their affairs with
justice. Ps. 112:5
He has shown you, O man, what is good. And what does the LORD require of you? To act justly
and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God. Mic. 6:8
This is what the LORD Almighty said: ‘Administer true justice; show mercy and compassion to
one another. Do not oppress the widow or the fatherless, the foreigner or the poor. In your hearts
do not think evil of each other.’ Zech. 7:9-10
Evil men do not understand justice, but those who seek the LORD understand it fully. Prov. 28:5
“Is not this the kind of fasting I have chosen: to loose the chains of injustice and untie the cords
of the yoke, to set the oppressed free and break every yoke? Isa. 58:6
Our Court needs to reflect God’s court.
Do not deny justice to your poor people in their lawsuits. Ex. 23:6
Do not exploit the poor because they are poor and do not crush the needy in court, for the LORD
will take up their case and will plunder those who plunder them. Prov. 22:22-23
For I know how many are your offenses and how great your sins. You oppress the righteous and
take bribes and you deprive the poor of justice in the courts…Hate evil, love good; maintain
justice in the courts…But let Justice roll on like a river, righteousness like a never-failing
stream!” Amos 5:12, 15, 24.
Seek justice, encourage the oppressed. Defend the cause of the fatherless,
plead the case of the widow. Isa. 1:17
Defend the cause of the weak and fatherless; maintain the rights of the poor and oppressed.
Rescue the weak and needy; deliver them from the hand of the wicked. Ps. 82:3-4.

Hi, it’s very interesting, I, as a believer, will do everything to never commit sins, for me this is a matter of honor. As for justice, I recently read https://studydriver.com/justice/ cool essays on the topic of Justice, a lot of parallels with different fields, niches, types of people’s activities and the situation in the world as a whole. It is interesting to read at any time, good luck and always remain kind and peaceful.  Wink Roll Eyes
