
The demise of a young man, Yusuf Shuaibu Adamu, allegedly following an assault by two soldiers, has sparked outrage among residents of Kano State, prompting demands for justice and accountability.
Yusuf, a cleaner at the 465 Nigeria Air Force Hospital medical center in Kano, passed away on Friday, May 3, reportedly a day after he was subjected to an assault by soldiers at his workplace.
According to sources familiar with the incident, Yusuf was allegedly given additional tasks by a soldier after completing his shift on Thursday. Upon refusal to undertake further work, he was allegedly subjected to a brutal assault by the soldier, resulting in severe injuries.
Following the assault, Yusuf began vomiting blood and subsequently lost consciousness. He was rushed to the hospital but was pronounced dead upon arrival.
Expressing concerns over the incident, the Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Hasan Abubakar, has ordered an investigation into Yusuf's death to ascertain the circumstances leading to the tragic outcome.
Addressing the matter, NAF Director of Public Relations and Information, Air Vice Marshal Edward Gabkwet, stated, "The Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Hasan Abubakar, has been briefed on the news of the unfortunate and untimely death of Mr. Shuaibu, and he is saddened by the loss."
Gabkwet further assured that thorough investigations would be conducted to uncover the truth surrounding Yusuf's death, emphasizing the commitment to ensuring accountability and justice in the matter.
The incident has elicited widespread condemnation, with calls for transparency and swift action to hold those responsible for the alleged assault and subsequent death of Yusuf accountable.
