Fear has gripped commercial sex workers in Bayelsa State after one of them allegedly stabbed a soldier attached to the Joint Task Force (JTF), Operation Pulo Shield to death for refusing to pay for a daybreak sex romp.
The soldier whose name has been kept under wraps was reportedly stabbed twice in his stomach by his sex partner from Edo State identified simply as Bini girl.
The incident, which occurred at about 4am on Tuesday, caused panic among other prostitutes at the popular redlight district known as Hospital Road Junction along DSP Alamieyeseigha Way, Yenagoa.
Other persons who patronized sex hawkers overnight in their shanties were said to have quickly dressed up and hurriedly left the area to avoid the prying eyes of onlookers attracted by the incident.
While sex workers said the soldier died immediately after he was stabbed, others said he died later in a hospital.
One of them who pleaded anonymity said a heated argument emanated from the suspect’s shanty in the morning after many rounds of sex.
She said: “After the soldier refused to pay, there was an argument very early in the morning. The girl who was angry grabbed a knife and stabbed the soldier in the stomach. We later saw the soldier struggling with blood flowing from the wound in his stomach.
“We are now living in fear because there may be reprisal from other soldiers. Most of us have decided to stay away from the area for sometime.”
The state Commissioner of Police, Mr. Hilary Opara, confirmed the incident and said the “culprit had been arrested.”
He, however, said the police had yet to receive report of the victim’s death.

I do not like the idea of young girls soliciting themselves for sex however I would like to ask one question.
Why do Nigeria soldiers like to think things can be given FREE to them?
In the past we have read of soldiers being killed for wanting a free bus ride, or for unlawfully damaging market stalls and stealing the products they say are contraband?
What is it about putting on a uniform (army, police, navy or air force) that makes them think they are more important than any other Nigerian?
And even when they are out of uniform (off duty) they still strut their stuff thinking they are "god!"
However one important thing is that killing him will not solve the problem.
The Commander of the Nigeria Armed Forces should keep his men (and women) in check!
