July 9, 2014 – Armed Robbers Attack University Of Nigeria Enugu Campus UNEC, 2 Policemen Killed
2 police officers were shot dead by a 6-man robbery gang that attacked a bank inside Enugu Campus of University of Nigeria last Friday.
It was gathered that an undisclosed amount running into millions of naira was carted away from the bank’s ATM by the robbers.
A similar incident was said to have occurred at the campus about one month ago, when another new generation bank was attacked inside the institution.
The hoodlums were believed to have taken advantage of the downpour on Friday night to launch the attack.
A lady, who was with a security guard at the bank also sustained bullet wounds.
According to our source, the robbers came in the middle of the night and shot the two policemen without resistance and thereafter, ordered the other guards into the security room where they were tied together.
With the bank’s security taken care of, the robbers, who were suspected to be the same gang that attacked a nearby bank one month ago in the campus, operated without hitch and succeeded in removing the three ATMs.
