A 4-year old boy was sentenced to 5-months imprisonment for allegedly killing his step-mother's chicken in Wudil local government area of Kano State. The boy who could not be named since he is a minor, according to a lawyer in the state, Audu Bulama Bukarti, had been having a dispute with his father's wife for some months and out of youthful anger, killed one of the woman's chicken and she called in the police who arrested him and charged him to court from where he was sent to jail. Bukarti said: "He was taken to the police station by the step-mum over her chicken and when efforts by the police to settle them yielded no result, the case was transferred to court." The boy was sent to a youth correctional center to serve his time.

Justice served right. Although, it is funny but a Yoruba proverb says "kekere la ti pekan Iroko, to ba dagba tan apa o ni ka mo" meaning it is good to de-root an Iroko when it is young, if not an Iroko tree will be difficult to handle if allowed to be fully grown. It is good to clip the wing of this little hoodlum before he gets out of hand

Then ake it a standard practice then to jail all thieves including the embezzelers regardless of their names. At least he was sent to a correctional centre,it will be nice if these centres are well funded and truelly correctional unlike the torture chamber they are,hence making the minor to graduate from their very hardenned.
