Unknown gunmen last night kidnapped Pa Simeon Soludo (78), father of Anambra State Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate Prof. Chukwuma Soludo.

The septuagenarian was snatched in his hometown, Isuanioma, Aguata Local Government Area, by the kidnappers who were said to have come in a Peugeot 406.

Commissioner of Police Philemon Leha said he had deployed his men in Isuanioma to track down the kidnappers.

Leha said everything would be done to rescue Pa Soludo, who retired from Nigerchem about 20 years ago.

He said: "My men have been positioned everywhere, combing for the kidnappers and their victim. We are on their (kidnappers’) trail. My men are looking for them. I have not been there (Isuanioma) but my men are there."

Coordinator of Soludo’s campaign Chike Anyaonu described the incident as "unfortunate".

The incident, he said, has thrown Isuanioma into confusion, adding:

"What will anybody benefit from kidnapping a 78-year old man? Is it also in the name of politics?"

A source quoted Soludo as saying last night: "It is true and I believe it is politically motivated."

that shows tht Chukwuma is not well prepared b/4 joining naija politice,he knows that once u join the game ur enemies are numerous  more than ur friends,or maybe that is nigerian political stractages,in the sence that they are behind the kidnap they only intend 2 blackmail the present administration.

This is a case of either:

(1)  The usual commercial kidnappers who want to take advantage of the political mess in Anambra to make
       their dough.
                                    OR

(2)  The handiwork of our ever selfish, greedy and evil-minded politicians (especially PDP).

Any way we look at it, this is just a cowardly act. If it is politically inclined, do the perpetrators think that such an act can stop Soludo frm contesting (I mean if he really wants to)? No position is anybody's (or group) BIRTH RIGHT. Provided a person meets the criteria, for goodness sake, they shd just allow him/her to contest and let THE MASSES MAKE THEIR CHOICE. Haba!

Whatever be the case, all I know is that GOD will never allow the people behind this to go unpunished.
IF U HAVE ANYTHING AGAINST SOLUDO, WHY TAKE IT UP ON HIS FATHER OR ANY OTHER PERSON?
Is this not a clear sign of COWARDICE?

Its a simple thing, give unto ceaser what is ceaser and unto God, what is God. I doubt if there is anything they want to get from the old man in question but if they don`t kidnapped him, how would they be able to get their own share of the money from the ones Chukwuma Soludo brought from CENRAL BANK OF NIGERIA.

Its our money, so he should be happy and willing to give selflessly.

Up Naija pals
