it's just the matter of saying HI whenever you see him and try to say something like...."how are u coping....how's mun and dad" he'll start noticing you cos i'm sure nobody will care about his parent( as students concern).

he might want to take it as if you're tripping but as time goes on you'll let him know you just want to be a friend.
