The doctor was docked for alleged conspiracy and carrying out illegal abortion.
According to checks by P.M.NEWS, Agbodeke operates a clinic at Aka road, Okokomaiko, Ojo, off the Lagos-Badagry Expressway. He was alleged to have carried out an illegal abortion on Miss Bukky Lawan, 20, who was arraigned along with him.
It was gathered that a married man, who has since disappeared, was responsible for Bukky’s pregnancy. He took her to his doctor friend, Agbodeke, who carried out the abortion in his clinic on 22 October, this year.
But when parents of the girl got to know about the abortion, they reported to policemen who went after the suspects. Agbodeke was arrested at his clinic two weeks later.
He was arraigned alongside Bukky Lawan before the Ojo Magistrate’s Court on a three-count charge of conspiracy, abortion and submitting herself for abortion.
When the charge was read to them, Agbodeke pleaded not guilty on counts one and two while on count three, Bukky pleaded guilty.
The trial senior magistrate, Mrs. J.O.E. Akhenamoya admitted Agbodeke to bail in the sum of N100,000 and one surety in the like sum. His address will be verified by the court and the surety must be gainfully employed.
But as the doctor could not meet the bail conditions in good time, he was ordered to be remanded in prison custody.
