History was made Tuesday as Ike Ekweremadu of the Peoples Democratic Party emerged as Deputy Senate President for the 8th Senate which was inaugurated today.
Ekweremadu defeated Senator Mohammed Ali Ndume of All Progressives Congress in an election conducted in the Senate chamber. He polled 54 votes as against Ndume’s 20 votes, and emerged victorious.
Consequently, he has been sworn-in by the Deputy Clerk of the National Assembly.
Ekweremadu was the immediate past Deputy Senate President of the 7th Assembly and was nominated by Senator George Sekibo from Rivers State.
This is the first time since the return of Democracy that an opposition party would be producing the Deputy Senate President.

Tinubu's Game plan was to present Akume but later agreed to Lawan and Akume as deputy these are people he can influence especially Akume, no consideration for south south and south east. He felt he would be able to secure a yoruba speaker of the Lower house once he is able to give north east the senate presidency. The south south and south east who were predominantly PDP in the house snookered him by adopting Saraki and when APC members stylishly boycotted thinking they have been divided and lost to Saraki they left a loophole which gave PDP the voting majority for Ike Ekweremadu to be elected as deputy senate prsido. Now Judiciary, Legislature and Executive will go to the North Osibanjo is just a stooge and key parastatals like Army, immigrations, customs is already with the North, we will see the ministerial list and SSG where it goes. All this is happening because Tinubu and his tribesmen think they are smart and calculative but they do not know that you do not just ignore anyone because God ignores no one.
