A 67-year-old man, Usmanu Umaru, has severed his manhood with a long sharp knife in his room because he is tiired of his poverty stricken life and want to commit suicide.
The shocking incident took place at Kofar Dindi neighborhood in Birnin Kebbi.
While speaking with a reporter from leadership, The victim’s nephew said that his uncle inflicted the cut on himself.
“Actually, we did not know why and for what reason he cut his private part.
What actually happened is that my uncle was sick and lying in his room. We just heard his wife screaming in their room and when we rushed in, we met him holding a knife and in a pool of blood; so we rushed him to Federal Medical Centre to save his life because he lost a lot of blood,”
he said.
When the reporter visited the Male Surgical Ward 3, FMC, Birnin Kebbi, the doctors confirmed that Umaru is presently receiving treatment but in a state of coma.
His nephew said they need 37,000 for the operation. Some residents who live in the same residence with the victim said that he was mentally unstable but others said he confessed to cutting his joystick because he was stricken by poverty.
