A final year student of Business Administration at the Osun State University, Osogbo, Olaolu Fadipe, has been reportedly stabbed to death by a relation, Abiodun Mojeed, at their 47, Bakinson Street, off Liasu Road, Egbe, Lagos residence.
P.M.NEWS investigation revealed that Abiodun, 21, stabbed his cousin, Olaolu, 24 on the chest with a kitchen knife. He died before he could get to the hospital.
It was gathered that a disagreement over who should warm the cooked beans meant for breakfast led them to start fighting on the day of the incident.
Sources informed P.M.News that the late Olaolu, as the elder brother, told Abiodun to warm the beans, but that the latter refused.
During the fight, Abiodun allegedly reached for a kitchen knife and stabbed Olaolu on the chest. Olaolu bled profusely and slumped.
The victim was rushed to a nearby private hospital soaked in blood. There, doctors confirmed him dead.
The matter was later reported at Ikotun Police Station. Abiodun was arrested, interrogated and detained.
The case was subsequently transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Panti, Yaba, for further investigation.
Abiodun was later arraigned on a holden charge of murder before the Lagos Magistrate’s Court, Tapa.
The police prosecutor said the offence is contrary to and punishable under section 319 of the Criminal Code Cap 17 Vol. 2 Laws of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2003.
The plea of the suspect was not taken. But the trial magistrate ordered Abiodun to be remanded in the prison custody.
The matter was adjourned till 25 January, 2010 for mention pending the advice from the office of Director of Public Prosecution (DPP).
