The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) yesterday, declared AbdulRasheed Maina, former chairman of Pension Reform Task Team (PRTT), wanted over alleged complicity in N195 billion pension scam.
Wilson Uwujaren, spokesman of the EFCC, confirmed the development to Gistmania in a text message.
“EFCC has declared Abdulrasheed Maina, former chairman of Pension Reform Task Team, wanted,” he said tersely. In 2013, Maina, who was alleged to have stolen billions of pension funds, was reported to have fled the country after a bench warrant was issued for his arrest. He was, also, implicated in the case of stealing brought against Steve Oronsaye, former head of service, by the EFCC. “It is in relation to the charge against Oronsaye that we have declared him wanted,” Uwujaren said. “He has failed to appear in court, and we do not know where he is.” Oronsaye, who was charged alongside Maina, is accused of using front companies to steal billions from the Federal Government. He is currently on trial but was granted bail by Gabriel Kolawole, justice of the Federal High Court, Abuja, in August.
