Youngman you are sounding so sentimental, the problem with nigeria is not Igbo,Hausa nor Yoruba as you claimed,it was a mistake made in 1914 by Lord Luggard to amalgamate northern and southern protectorate comprising people of different nations,of diverse culture and intrest to form a country because of thier(british) selfish intrest. You know it can never ever work, the more they forced to be together the more more problem arises.

Now the mistake has been made my good brother,it is left for us ordinary citizens to fine a way and secure our future from the hands of those wicked men, becuase gone are the days we will be waiting for God to do something or come to our aid,God has done alot for us and it is now left for us to something if not we are all heading to golgotta and no two ways about it.

How can we do this? Yes we can do it by putting sentiment aside and come together and fight to rescure our future irrespective of where we come from, tribe or religion, because nigerians are too big to allow few cabals to determine our destiny. We can say no it is enough and it will stop,God has done alot for us he cannot do more,America and britian can help us,complain, mormouring and back-biting can't save the situation, our destiny lay siquelly in our own. hand.

U are right to an extent. However, U exclude the followers. The followers are also part of the problem. Until they start asking accountability, transparency, discipline & good governance from the elite, things wont change for good.

I stand to correct the GUY that says NIGERIA is mad! govt go govt comes the state remains.rather  using such  derogatory language against my so LOVED COUNTRY it should go to those that has put NIGERIA in such sorry state. the problem of NIGERIA is neither associated to the ALMAGAMATION of 1914 nor it"s DIVERSITIES. let NIGERIA go on desintergration, the same problem at this current NATIONAL level will still play itself out in the regions. those clamouring for the NATION to be splitted are those whose interest it is to rule at least a given portion of the country.
we have not only mineral resources in abundance but also human capital with the very best brains! there is strength in diversity. diversity in itself is an added advantage if well utilised, if not while are NATIONS who haven splitted after fighting wars, fights for a reunion -using WESTERN GERMANY AND EASTERN GERMANY WITH NORTH AND SOUTH KOREA as case study
lets not be deceived by our so called leaders who tends to use some insignificant issues as distractions on the masses.
The problem with my country is a matter of wrong manning as far as the leadership of the state called NIGERIA is concerned. NIGERIA  as a state has been very unlucky to have been gorverned by those that did not merrit her leadership. people who lack the ideals of leadership, people who sees themselve as masters rather than servants of the state, they do not see themselve as public office holders but as BOSS. They are those who chase the led out of the street with their convoy and alarm system, they see themselves as above the law. manipulate the laws and system to their favour and that of their allieds.
What NIGERIA need is serious prayers and not too much of GRAMAR. NIGERIA has been hijacked by some vampires whose responsibility it is to seen the FINAL FALL of NIGERIA,SPIRITISM  is their watch word, but GOD is more than them all.
"THE SUMARY IS THAT, IT HAS BEEN OUR LEADERSHIP SYSTEM THAT HAS BEEN MAD AND NOT THE STATE CALLED NIGERIA"

WETIN DEY WRONG WITH NAIJA? …you no know? “Primitivism, being uncivilized….therefore, egocentric and excessively ethno-tribalistic...”
I don’t want to talk about Nigeria politics now when nobody seems to be prepared to talk about the realities of Nigerian contemporary political reality. Those who control those who rule the nation , those who preside over those who were/are presidents of this great nation….I mean the various Nigeria mafia  clicks (Kaduna mafia,Sokoto caliphate, the Generals in Nigerian Army, etc) and their foreign collaborators-British, France, American and the Arab Muslim Brotherhood. They are the people that are holding this nation to ransom; they are responsible for these shameful attitudes and conditions that every Dick and Harry (in Nigeria) is crying of. These are the ones who are certainly going to expect the whirl wind when Nigeria masses wake up from their long overdue slumber.
The ‘divide and rule system’ is not a historal event of the colonial era alone; it has survived the political evolutions in Nigeria till date. Certainly some people somewhere are making gains out of the porous ness of Nigerian bad political and economic conditions. There is no doubt the tribalism and ethnicism is favouring certain interest groups.  From 3 regions Nation-State to 12 states. Then 18,24, 30, then 36 states. And, bet me, its not yet over until they have finished us. Then thereafter, someone there at the top will have the guts to come out and start asking: who is responsible for the problems of tribalism and ethnicism in Nigeria?
Incase  you just grow up recently and do not know what is happening in naija polity, ask yourself some eye opening questions, Who put Obasanjo for power? And who put Yar’Adoua for power? Then who Yar’doua dey serve?  and Who ego give power when he finish?  Gee stop beating about the bush face the facts if you want to get the solutions….respects fellow Nigerians!!!

Im reading this time and time again. Blaming all on the colonial masters.

I ask you what was Nigeria like before it became a colony?

And dont get me wrong i dont mean this in a negative.

Im just wondering. What would it have become? Any idea? How do you see this?
Where things better or worse after it became independent?

See Australia is still a colony in a way we are still under English rule.

YOU MAY NOT UNDERSTAND THIS FROM AUSTRALIA POINT OF VIEW, BUT BETTER UNDERSTOOD FROM NIGERIA OR AFRICA POINT OF VIEW.

one mr                     has said the whole truth and nothing but the truth, but he is too grammatic for my liking, he has read too much. one sentece is just enough for this   THE LEADERSHIP IS WRONG. it can not be blamed to the followers now, cos we are being ruled by the same circle of pple or group from the inception of our DEMall CRAZY.

Once again, I agree with you to a large extent. However, I've grown passed blaming Imperialism (especially Colonialism and neo-colonialism) for all our problems. I am no more a reader of Walter Rodney's " How Europe Underdeveloped Africa". My focus now is on How Africans are molesting their motherland. I'll implore you to join me in this new school. Not only is it intellectually more rewarding, it also facilitates a crystal clear illumination of the existential realities of contemporary Nigerian government and Politics.

The problem with Nigeria is very simple- Leadership. Here is a country where arable land is in abundance ,mineral resource is present in every part of the country yet people are still hungry.
Our politicians are not only cowards but people without vision and nothing will be right untill Nigerians stand up as one and fight for there right to be ruled by people with intergrity.

U.S report indicts Atiku on $40 million money laundering

A United States Senate report has accused Atiku Abubakar, Nigeria’s former Vice-President, of laundering over $40 million in suspicious funds into the United States between 2000 and 2008. And his partner in the lucrative effort was Jennifer Douglas, his fourth wife.  Ms. Douglas is sometimes known as Lady Jamilah Jennifer, or Douglas E, or Jennifer Iwenjora, the name by which she was known in the 1980s when she was a reporter with the Nigeria Television Authority in Lagos.  According to the report, which was written by the Senate Subcommittee on Investigations, most of the funds were through wire transfers sent by offshore corporations to U.S. bank accounts.

Of the $40 million identified in the US investigation, $25 million was reportedly wire-transferred by offshore corporations into more than 30 U.S. bank accounts opened by Ms. Douglas, primarily by Guernsey Trust Company Nigeria Ltd., LetsGo Ltd. Inc., and Sima Holding Ltd.

“In a 2008 civil complaint, the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission alleged that Ms. Douglas received over $2 million in bribe payments in 2001 and 2002, from Siemens AG, a major German
corporation,” the report says.  “While Ms. Douglas denies wrongdoing, Siemens has already pled (pleaded) guilty to U.S. criminal charges and settled civil charges related to bribery and told the Subcommittee that it sent the payments to one of her U.S. accounts.

The report also recalls the 2006/2007 corruption brouhaha in Nigeria between Abubakar and then President Olusegun Obasanjo over the Petroleum Technology Development Fund.  At that time, both a government panel and an Economic and Financial Crimes Commission panel found Atiku guilty of diverting funds meant for the Fund's operations nationwide to various banks to promote his private interests.  Obasanjo dismissed his own extensive gains from the account as pointed out by Abubakar as mere "gifts" over which he had no control.

The report goes on: “The U.S. banks maintaining those accounts were, at times, unaware of her PEP (Politically Exposed Person) status, and they allowed multiple, large offshore wire transfers into her accounts. As each bank began to question the offshore wire transfers, Ms. Douglas indicated that all of the funds came from her husband and professed little familiarity with the offshore corporations actually sending her money. When one bank closed her account due to the offshore wire transfers, her lawyer helped convince other banks to provide a new account.

”In addition, two of the offshore corporations wire transferred about $14 million over five years to American University in Washington, D.C., to pay for consulting services related to the development of a Nigerian university founded by Mr. Abubakar. American University accepted the wire transfers without asking about the identity of the offshore corporations or the source of their funds, because under current law, the University had no legal obligation to inquire.”

LOOK at this CRIMINAL. Product of the Nigerian Customs. I will write to my Congressman to make sure that you are sent to JAIL. Thats where you belong. Not in Dubai!!
So ATIKU, you stole this amount of money and banked in USA whereas your fellow countryfolks are dying of hunger eh?
Yet, how much more did you send to other countries like Saudi Arabia and Dubai and Britain and around the world?
How much did you send to your THREE other remaining wives? How many Millions to your ASHAWO girlfriends?
You wanted to form MEGAPARTY and come back to steal more money, right?
They should amputate your hands by Sharia Law. If you could amputate someone's hands because they stole chicken fowl, how about $40 Million?
WALLAHI TALLAHI, if I ever see you in Politics again, You will see what I will do to you. Just bury your head in shame and go to your grave with all that money!
Fellow Nigerians, Here is an anthem for everyone. These folks must bring back the money:
