In a bid to enhance security in the state, the Lagos state governor, Akinwunmi Ambode today commissioned some security apparatus worth N4. 765 billion. Among the items commissioned include 100 4-Door Saloon Cars, 55 Ford Ranger Pick-Ups, 10 Toyota Land Cruiser Pick-Ups, 15 BMW Power Bikes/Cycles, 100 Power Bikes, Isuzu Trucks, 3 Helicopters , 2 Gunboats 5 Armoured Personnel Carriers Revolving Lights, Siren and Public Address System, Vehicular Radio Communicators Security Gadgets, including Bullet Proof Vests, Helmets, Handcuffs, etc Uniforms, Kits, etc; and Improved Insurance and Death Benefit Schemes...

One thing security back to lagos, the next minute police start killing innocent civilians. Nigeria police can't be trusted. I just hope they don't continue to rebel against the innocent. God Bless Nigeria.

This is a way forward but not enough. We might have all the materials but ii the moral & indiscipline in the police system is not reenforce, then all these materials will be nothing The major problem in the police is (corruption ) from the police college to the first posting of the newly passed out The corruption is from the low rankings to the I G.Am a living witness as a young officer in the early seventies. Then I had my training in the police college Enugu in which after I was posted Ogun state.I was in D c b lafenwa Abeokuta then sagamu to mention some of the stations that I headed.I left the police due to pressure from my oga because of insisting of taking bribe from complainants to the accused.To be posted to road blocks and some other areas where they think there is money,you have to pay for the posting.Well ,what I am saying here is that,is not only the materials that are hindering the job but the lack of cheek ànd balance of the system. New orientation is needed in the system The public also have their roles to play in coming out to denounced the police anti social behavior in all ramifications. The duties of the police are to be redefine among these are to save lives and properties and not harassment and brutality of those they supposed to be defending.
