YORUBA PEOPLE
It is the habit of yoruba people to either shorten or elongate
peoples' name when pronouncing it ; e.g
Gabriel : Gabu
Daniel : Dani
Benjamen : Beni
John : Johnnu
Janet : Jani
jacob: jeko and so on
So, there's this yoruba woman beside my house that named
her son ESU-POFO (meaning the devil has failed)
.
One day, my friend Dada wanted to call the woman with her son's name,
and as a confirm yoruba guy, he decided to shorten the name,
so he called her "IYA ESU" (meaning mother of satan) she got
angry and picked a fight with him,he then apologized
immediately and called her "IYA POFO" (meaning mother of
Failure) now she has been insulting him, is it his fault?
