The House of Representatives on Tuesday passed the bill establishing the Federal University of Petroleum Resources, Effurun in Delta State.

The bill, sponsored by Hon. Evelyn Omavowan Oboro (Delta PDP) during the seventh assembly, was passed following the consideration and adoption of the report of the relevant committees.
The university is intended to accelerate the development of the middle and high-level manpower for the oil and gas sector.
When the bill is concurred with by the Senate and signed by the President, the institution which has existed for 10 years would receive legal backing.
The university is currently operating from its permanent site sitting atop over 100 hectares of land and has produced four sets of sciences graduates and two sets of engineering graduates.
