On Tuesday night a missing Chibok school girl was found deep inside the Sambisa Forest by a vigilante group fighting Boko Haram. Her name is Amina Ali Nkek and the 19 year old was rescued alongside her 4 month old baby and ‘husband’, who is a Boko Haram terrorist that ‘married’ her after she was abducted by his insurgent group. Amina is the first of nearly 300 girls abducted two years ago on April 14, 2014 by the terrorist group. Amina told reporters that all the kidnapped girls alive except 6. Aboku Gaji, the leader of the JTF in Chibok, told BBC News about the reunion between Amina and her mother, When we arrived at the house… I asked the mother to come and identify someone. The moment she saw her, she shouted her name, ‘Amina, Amina!’ She gave her the biggest hug ever, as if they were going to roll on the ground, we had to stabilize them. After preliminary investigation, the rescued girl and her baby has been handed over to Borno State Governor – Honourable Kashim Shetima, they are also said to be receiving medical care, even though it is being reported that there is nothing physically wrong with he Her terrorist husband Mohammed Hayatu has been arrested and is being investigated at the Joint Intelligence Centre. Because he voluntarily surrendered himself to the military Hayatu may well be given amnesty which is in line with President Muhammadu Buhari’s amnesty programme known as OPERATION SAFE CORRIDOR. Back in April the Defence HQ made the announcement about the operation, saying in a statement, The Federal Government’s commitment to the war against insurgency in the North East and in furtherance of its efforts to rehabilitate and reintegrate surrendered and repentant Boko Haram terrorist members, the Defence Headquarters has established rehabilitation camp in an Exercise known as Operation SAFE CORRIDOR. The main focus of Operation SAFE CORRIDOR is geared towards rehabilitating and reintegrating the repentant and the surrendering Boko Haram members back into normal life in the society. The repentant terrorists in the Camp would be taken through various vocational training so that they could be useful to themselves and be empowered to contribute meaningfully to the economic growth of their fatherland. It is also being reported that Amina and her parents will meet the president in Abuja before the end of the week.
