Brown Ideye opened goal for Nigeria late in the first before Kelechi Iheanacho double the lead in the second half.
Luxembourg’s 16-year-old forward Vincent Thill got a goal back for the home team before Odion Ighalo scored a late goal to hand Nigeria the victory.
The Super Eagles of Nigeria were in high spirit after their 1-0 win over Mali in a friendly game on Friday, May 27. They had all the possession early in the game but failed to trouble the Luxembourg defence.
Alex Iwobi had Nigeria’s first chance of the game but poked a ball over the bar after a fine run from midfield.
Ideye broke the deadlock in the 37th minute, pouncing on to a rebound to tap into net.
The Super Eagles continued their dominance in the second half but had to wait until the 66th munite to get their second goal through Iheanacho who had a simple tap from a Moses Simon pass.
Luxembourg got a late consolation who capitalized on a slip by Super Eagles defender Kenneth Omeruo to slot the ball into the net.
There was however a last chance at goal for Nigeria as Iheanacho ran past some defenders to slot the ball into the path of Ighalo who finished it off for Nigeria.
