The police in Imo State, Tuesday, paraded one pastor Delight Arinze Okorie of Watered Ground Ministry in Atta Nnenasa in Njaba Local Government Area of the state for allegedly stealing his member's Lexus jeep and attempting to murder her in the process.
The Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, in the state, Mr Andrew Enwerem who briefed newsmen said that the pastor prophesied to her member, miss Chioma Oleka that she was possessed of water spirit which needed to be cast out.
Mr Enwerem disclosed that the Pastor lured her member to Nwangele River in Nwangele LGA of the state for deliverance in her Lexus jeep.
The Police spokesperson explained that while the deliverance session was going on, the pastor allegedly pushed miss Oleka into the river for her to drown. Mr Enwerem said that as Oleka could not drown, the pastor allegedly went into the Jeep and brought out a cutlass of which he allegedly used in giving her several injuries . The PPRO said that when the lady fainted, pastor Okorie thought that she had died and immediately zoomed off in her jeep with the registration number: Rivers KPR 243 HF.
Mr Enwerem communicated that police men attached to Nwangele division on routine patrol found her helpless and took the pastor's victim to the hospital, where she was later revived.
He informed that through intensive investigation and manhunt, the pastor was subsequently nabbed at Orlu in the state in the lady's jeep. Mr Enwerem averred that the man of God has confessed to the crime,blaming the devil, giving the police useful information even as he asserted that he would soon be charged to court for alleged stealing and attempted murder.
