“What happened to the remains of our dead relatives?”.
This is the question members of the Akiode family in Osogbo want the security agents to unravel following the exhumation of corpses on a parcel of land in Osogbo, Osun State, under controversial circumstances.
Mr. Rasaki Balogun, a member of the Akiode family, alleged that the parcel of land contained a family burial ground where about 70 corpses of relatives were buried.
The head off the Akiode compound on station Road, Osogbo, Mr. Michael Olayiwola, along with two other members of the family, Prof. Babatunde Adeleke and Rasaki Balogun are challenging a land developer in Osogbo who encroached into the family burial ground and exhumed the corpses.
They alleged that many corpses belonging to Akiode family had been exhumed by workers at the site, adding that the act was not only sacrilegious and disrespectful but also criminal as the family do not know where the land developer had taken the exhumed corpses to and his intentions for exhuming the corpses.
The Akiode family has therefore called on the Osun State Government and the Police to investigate their claim and bring the perpetrators to book.
