Yes. . . . we all know things aren't going very well for the motherland right now, however, somethings come naturally to us Nigerians ,which we need to acknowledge and appreciate.
I list a few:
1. Fear of God :this is taken for granted by Nigerians ,but something most of the developed world has lost.
2.Respect for Elders/Parents: Nigerians naturally respect people older than them, this is usually strange to many non-nigerians/africans
3.Love of family : We generally get interested in family-siblings,cousins,half-brother etc. . . . most of the world's getting increasingly selfish & its cool we still have this
4. Abhorrence of debt : one thing that has helped many Nigerians especially abroad is our financial discipline/system,many were brought up having to pay cash for everything,so we tend not to live off credit i know we have a number of exceptions
5.Appreciation of poverty: while not being necessarily poor, many nigerians know/understand what it means to be poor and work against it & this is usually responsible for what most people see as 'aggressive/ambitious'.
6.Celebrating : who can celebrate more than Nigerians, even in the midst of problems

Nigerians in general have NO inferiority complex perhaps superiority complex <grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrhhhhhhhh !!!> especially in the outside world , because even when we are wrong we don't admit eazily and this is one possible reason we haven/t grown as fast as expected as it takes humility and recognition of our limitations to get access to necessary help. but even that superiority complex might be dying a slow death now . as a myriad of national issues are making us come to face reality and perhaps bury the ego we seem to carry so high.
Honestly I do opine that if the Lot we are going thru now do not sink us it can only take us to greater heights For sunshine and calm will follow the Storm !

I DONT AGREE TO NO.1. If we are afraid of God; we will not be as currupt and killing one another like we do.

I quite agree we are not all the same; but when the ratio is 7 out of 10 of us believes in ritual and juju thing. I must say this, when you come out from naija, and take a critical view at our belief system; you will realise that we only use God name to show off; all the practicalities of true christainity or God like is missing in every aspect of our doing.

Even those who profess God only cosmetically and not according to the true tenet of either Christianity or Islam or whatever other religion they believe are still very dense . . spiritually . Religion is one thing . Spirituality is another . Spirituality transcends religion , you can profess God all you want but if its in name only and not in deed . You are worse than the atheist who is not deceiving the world . by being true to himself and accepting his level of consciousness as regards the Supreme being

Very true. However, MOST of them HIDE behind the name of GOD while going on with their sinister businesses. I know of a VERY 'RELIGIOUS' Nigerian man here in SA. He preached and preached YET, he was caught by the police for being a Pimp and dealing in drugd. Much for the fear of GOD!
2.Respect for Elders/Parents: Nigerians naturally respect people older than them, this is usually strange to many non-nigerians/africans
Africans in general do respect their elders. And ofcoz, there are always exceptions to the rule!
3.Love of family : We generally get interested in family-siblings,cousins,half-brother etc. . . . most of the world's getting increasingly selfish & its cool we still have this
This love of family tends to get out of hand. It can at times lead to TRIBALISM as a certain tribe tends to discriminate against another because they are just NOT family.
4. Abhorrence of debt : one thing that has helped many Nigerians especially abroad is our financial discipline/system,many were brought up having to pay cash for everything,so we tend not to live off credit i know we have a number of exceptions Agreed!
5.Appreciation of poverty: while not being necessarily poor, many nigerians know/understand what it means to be poor and work against it & this is usually responsible for what most people see as 'aggressive/ambitious'.

That's an AFRICAN trait. Here in SA, we dance in the streets while on strike. Nothing special there!
