Samir Nasri is under investigation by Spain’s anti-doping agency and could land himself a FOUR-YEAR football ban if the Manchester City flop is found guilty. The Manchester City midfielder who now plays for Sevilla -was axed by City boss Pep Guardiola as soon as he arrived at the Etihad and shipped out on loan to La Liga side Sevilla but was back in the headlines in December with a Twitter meltdown.
During Spain’s winter break he was caught up in a scandal when he was accused of segxwal relations with a medical professional from the Drip Doctor company who claimed to have pumped the Frenchman with “a concierge immunity IV drip to keep him hydrated and in top health during his busy soccer season with Sevilla.
The lurid revelations linking him with the beautiful doc – complete with allegations of his account being hacked and online suggestions his former girlfriend was involved in the embarrassing saga – have been compounded by the news the Spanish authorities are going to investigate his treatment.
The Drip Doctors - who flatly reject accusations of improper conduct with the footballer - says their immunity drip is “one litre of hydration” but the World Anti-Doping Agency rules state that IV drips are banned unless administered in quantities of no more than 50 millilitres per six-hour period, or in cases where an athlete has obtained a certificate of dispensation on medical grounds. Nasri claimed on his account that the celebrity treatment was a gift from his girlfriend while he was on holiday in America so it seems unlikely that he had special medical dispensation or a Therapeutic Use Exemption. WADA spokesman Ben Nichols said: “A violation of Article 2.2 of the code could result in a sanction of up to four years.
“However, this will depend upon factors such as whether or not the use was intentional and if unintentional, the sanction could be subject to further reductions on the basis of no significant fault or negligence. “The length of the investigation will always depend on the complexity of the case.”
