Manchester United legend Ryan Giggs is to lose at least half his £40million fortune next month after finally caving in to his wife’s demands for a divorce.
Long-suffering Stacey, 38, dumped the Manchester United star a year ago after he was linked to a PR executive.
Following their separation, Stacey ditched her wedding ring and enjoyed a string of holidays with girl pals.
However, the Manchester United hero was regularly seen wearing his ring with pals claiming he was desperate to give their relationship another shot.
But their nine-year marriage will come to an end at a High Court hearing next month. Forms are due to be exchanged on Monday, while further documents will be filed on February 13 detailing how his assets while be divided. Giggs, 43, who has built an impressive hotel and restaurant portfolio since hanging up his boots two years ago, is still living with Stacey and their children Libby, 13, and Zach, ten, kids while he looks for a new home to live in.

A source said: “After years of being made to look a fool in public as a result of Ryan’s cheating, Stacey will finally break free. “Try as he might, he could not salvage their marriage. “Stacey raised their two children while he focused on his career. “While he was travelling the world and playing football, Stacey was at home taking care of the kids and looking after their family home.
“It’s only fair she gets what’s hers from their marriage. “She deserves every penny for the humiliation Ryan put her through after cheating on her with his brother’s wife, and the regular rumours he was still being unfaithful.
Last April The Sun on Sunday revealed how Stacey, 38, ended their marriage amid rumours he bedded a stunning PR guru and was flirting with waitresses at a restaurant he owns.
Giggs previously slept with his brother’s wife Natasha Lever during a secret affair, which was revealed 2011.
