Some Ozubulu youths under the auspices of Ozubulu Youths Association, on Monday, protested the re-opening of St. Philips Catholic Church, Amakwa Ozubulu, Anambra State, barely a week after gunmen killed worshipers in the church.
President of the association, Comrade Emeka Anakwe, said it was worrisome that the church would be re-opened for service when investigations into the matter had not been concluded or even the victims buried.
He noted that it was the highest level of provocation for the youths to see the church holding service when the community was still mourning. Anakwe, who condemned the attack on the innocent worshipers, said that the youths of the community were concerned about the matter, saying residents of Ozubulu no longer sleep with their eyes closed because of fear of being attacked again.
The youths took the protest to their Igwe’s palace and the police station in the town after moving round said their town. Anakwe said that the youths had been neglected for too long and would no longer accept such disposition from the elders of the community
