The Bundesliga champions got back to winning ways on Saturday with a 3-1 win at Wolfsburg thanks to goals from Robert Lewandowski and James. The Colombian stated after the game that “Bayern’s bad patch is over”, and they will now have to prove that with a trip to the Greek capital in the Champions League. Arjen Robben, who faces a one-game league suspension for his red card in Wolfsburg, is eligible in Europe, and coach Niko Kovac will also be boosted by the welcome return of defender Rafinha at the weekend, allowing cover at full-back after David Alaba went off as a precaution in Wolfsburg. Fellow defender Jerome Boateng is also back in training and has travelled to Athens, but Franck Ribery has remained in Munich with a back problem.

AEK are back in the Champions League proper for the first time since 2006/07 after beating Scottish champions Celtic and Hungary’s Vidi in qualifying. The Greek champions currently sit fourth in the country’s Super League after a 2-0 win at Apollon Smyrnis on Saturday. Viktor Klonaridis is the club’s top scorer this season with six goals in all competitions, but Greece’s Black-Yellows are currently bottom of Group E after losses to Ajax and Benfica.

Marinos Ouzounidis' side, though, may feel that Bayern's recent stuttering form represents a glimmer of hope ahead of Tuesday's tie.
