
A rare hawk from Finland has travelled the way down to Nigeria as it was caught on Thursday, October 25th by residents in Jigawa State. The bird known as the Western Osprey (Pandion Haliaetus), was recently caught at Malam Madori, Jigawa.

According to the persons who caught it, the bird also known as sea hawk or fish hawk is purportedly owned by the University of Helsinki, Finland, as a ring bearing the information was spotted on one of its legs.

After much celebration for the rare bird, it was released and allowed to fly at the Baturiya Wetland Reserve in Jigawa. A Facebook user Abubakar S. Ringim and a graduate of Zoology, took to Facebook to write;
