Naomi Osaka has won an enthralling Australian Open final to seal back-to-back grand slam titles following her victory in the 2018 US Open.
Osaka beat Petra Kvitova 7-6 (2) 5-7 6-4 in Melbourne but, despite dominating her opponent for much of the second set, blew three championship points within it to give her opponent a sniff of a comeback and then again stuttered in the deciding set.
The 21-year-old from Japan drew first blood by taking the opening set but saw two set points come and go in the 12th game of a high-quality contest. However, she dominated the tie-break by surging into a 5-1 lead, going on to take it 7-2.
