A Federal High Court sitting in Lagos this afternoon sentenced an American lady, Sharon Dennis Thorpe, to 24 years imprisonment for being in possession of fake bank cheques and illegal dealing in same.
The convict was arraigned before the court alongside her Nigerian boyfriend, Musendiku Kehinde in a criminal charge filed against the accused person by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC.
It was alleged that they were in possession of 200 pieces of various American Bank cheques totaling $706,668.4.
The American pleaded guilty and she was sentenced to two years imprisonment on each of the 12 counts. The terms are to run concurrently.
However, her Nigerian lover pleaded not guilty.
Justice Akinjide Ajakaye ordered that Musendiku should be remanded in prison custody till 14 June when his bail application would be heard.

the judge is just too much lenient sef , that girl deserved noting less than 25 yrs even with hard labour , its time we teach thise yankeey some bitter lessons too , that naija is no more a dumping ground

these are the type of peoples who are poluting our society , they were equally partiners in defruding the govt and individuals , that stupid yankeey deserves a maximum capital punishment , infact i will rather sugest they cut off her head right off without much delays and the earlier the better , and all the accomplish in the crime against the humanity should be treated equally , mba or no mba , the bad and mad peoples should equally go , that will be so good for the country and our developments too ---- onye ozi
