A Boeing 737 Max plane has been forced to make an emergency landing in Orlando, Florida, after experiencing engine problem shortly after take-off.
The crew were the only ones on board as the aircraft was been flown to Victorville, California where the airline, Southwest is storing the aeroplane because of a nationwide commercial flight ban.
This is coming after two crashes involving the 737 Max plane, the latest being with Ethiopian airline raised question about the safety pf the planes.
The airline said one of the pilots reported the engine problem shortly after rtake-off and was asked to make an emergency landing at the airport.
“The two pilots aboard the flight reported a performance issue with one of the engines shortly after takeoff. The crew followed protocol and safely landed back at the airport,” the airline said.
Southwest has said that the aircraft will be moved to its Orlando maintenance facility for a review.
Airline regulators around the world have grounded the 737 Max model after concerns that the anti-stall system was the cause of the two recent deadly crashes in Ethiopia and Indonesia.
All 157 on board the Ethiopian Airlines’ Boeing 737 Max 8 aircraft died after the plane crashed shortly after taking off from Addis Ababa on March 10.
The same scenario had played out four months earlier after another Boeing 737 Max 8 model operated by Indonesia’s Lion Air crashed shortly after taking off from Jakarta, killing all 189 people on board.
