The Oyo State Government has told commercial vehicle drivers not to pay any money to any transport unions before picking up and dropping off passengers at motor parks in the state.
.
The state government said it had yet to lift the ban on the activities of the National Union of Road Transport Workers and other transport unions in the state.
.
The state Commissioner for Works and Transportation, Prof Raphael Afonja, said while inspecting motor parks in Ibadan some individuals were still collecting money from commercial vehicle drivers, claiming they were representing the state government.

Afonja said the Seyi Makinde administration was working towards making life easy for all motorists.

He said selling tickets to commercial vehicle drivers by anyone was illegal.

The commissioner said, “We have got various reports from all angles and every corner of the state of some unscrupulous individuals issuing receipts to motorists at motor parks and claiming to represent government or any transport union.

“I wish to restate the stand of the governor on this. The ban on the activities of transport unions is still in place and anyone caught issuing receipts and collecting money at the parks will be seriously dealt with according to the law.
