Earlier this month, a friend of mine attended an event in Bangkok organized by the American-based Sex Workers Outreach Project (Swop). There, he met sex workers and activists (mostly Europeans) who challenged the idea that they are by definition exploited or abused. A transgender (half cast) woman called Savannah announced that she was proud to be a call girl. She told me: "I've worked as a streetwalker, escort, model, dominatrix, in dungeons ..." Being a call girl is easier, she said, because it means she can avoid police harassment.... this article prompt me to ask the above question.

Poverty should never be an excuse for immorality regardless of how bad the situation is.  That postulation creates a senario that justifies immorality.......appalling!!

Agreed some help their families, but Prostitution is not the only way they can help their families.  There are better ways they can help without selling their soul.

that is the only way they can help especially when they are not educated or in a country like urs, mostly if they don't have their hope in God

Prostitution is not all about poverty, though poverty contributes it own quota, that's why most traffickers lure young girls into what they don't wanna do in the name of helping them find greener pastures.

some are been carried away by friends who are already involved in the mess

while others, most especially those from wealthy homes, see it as fun and as big girls (which they not) feel they will no longer have to wait for Dad or Mom for hand bag money.

BUT the worst now is that, most of these ladies are out there for vengeance by spreading HIV/AIDS
