It's very simple and clear it's the man that's at fault....when the woman said she's not in the mood for a joke or something the man has to respect her privacy and to bear with her rather than being an ass hole....

If they love each other, the wife has no reason to be in such aweful mood while the husband is around. Seing each other's face is enough to remove ever bitterness if the love is really there.
