The Federal Government may spend about N14 billion on Muslims who will attend this year’s pilgrimage in Saudi Arabia, sources at the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON), have said. It was gathered that although 95, 000 Muslims in the country will take part in this year’s Hajj as the pilgrimage is known, the Federal Government will sponsor 26, 235 pilgrims. Sources said that it will cost between N460, 000 and N540, 000 to sponsor each pilgrim for this year’s Hajj. The total amount to spend on 26, 235 pilgrims will be between N12 billion and N14 billion. “The number of pilgrims for this year’s Hajj is 95,000 and the government will sponsor 26,235. The allocation of Hajj seat for the states and officials under Saudi Arabia Royal Embassy in Abuja for us this year is 95,000 and this includes the Medical team, the Security and the Welfare team. As I am talking to you now, the Saudi Arabia Embassy has issued about 15, 077 visas to some pilgrims and the issuance still continues,’’ the source said.
P.M.NEWS gathered that out of the total number allotted to the country, there are 10,000 special slots being given out to some wealthy citizens. It was learnt that Niger State has the largest contingent of pilgrims for this year’s Hajj with 4,322 pilgrims. Lagos State follows with 3,896 pilgrims and Federal Capital Territory (FCT) has 3,115. The states with the smallest pilgrims are Ebonyi State, with just 8 pilgrims. Abia, Adamawa and Akwa-Ibom States have 50 pilgrims each. P.M.NEWS learnt that the first flight to Saudi Arabia from Nigeria will take off on Friday, 15 October 2010. Which of the land is HOLY. When God was giving the Lands to the Children of Israel he called it the Promise Land and not the Holy Land. Any land that should be Holy is Jerusalem because it is there God called his Holy Place Zion. But then it was no longer called that again because of the Disobedience of the Children of Israel and the ending of that Marriage. So when the New World on this Earth comes there will be a New Jerusalem go and read the book of Revelations. Holiness comes from within us because OUR TEMPLE IS THE BODY OF THE LORD. This holiness comes in when we live an obedience life to Jesus Christ. Then when 2 or more is gather in His name there in the MIDST He will be. This is the outer Holiness of God. Not going to a country that is no better than mines or yours.
So this money wasting venture is unnecessary.

thats is the problem with you peoples , hardly will you ever talk without your mouths being very porous , what a reckless statements ? firstly who tells you that those who made the journey where in search of GOD ?what brought inn bomb and digger here if not one of those recklessness ? who also tells you that govt will sponsors all the intending pilgrims ? 95,000 will be performing from nigeria and the report says the govt is sponsoring about 26,000, and must you because of the govt delegates washes your dirty mouths on faithful ones going and fully paid for the fare in their pocket ? i had performed the Hajj more that twenty times now with non from the so call govt deligates, GOD is HOLY and HE accept only but HOLY things as well Hajj itself is the fith pillar of the pillars that carries the ISLAM and its a journey of the faith , so therefore its a must , and who so ever is not so pleases should jump into the nearest river to him or her

hajj, a pillar of islam is meant for those who can afford it alongside other conditions which involves making sure ur family is adequately catered for during your absence. for govt to cough out such chunk of money in d name of sponsorship is uncalled for. i am sure 90% of those being sponsored can adequately pay for demselves. we hav a problem of allocating funds in this country to make the rich richer and the poor poorer

well said , but you seems to have mis some vital points so , without trying to be hypocrites , govt did not sponsors the whole pilgrims but a little and minor groups , and i quites agreed with you that those sponsors by govt so fare are able men and women who can even themselves affords to sponsors other , but due to their greedness will embarks on the journey at expenses of govt , and with many of the knowning fully that GOD is HOLY and HE accept noting but HOLY things these are the type of peoples that you can all washes your mouths upon and not those who labours so hard to embark on the journey of faith by their sweats
