
President Muhammadu Buhari has sacked the Chairman of the Governing Board of the Nigerian Copyright Commission (NCC), Dr Tony Clinton Jaja, with immediate effect.
The letter with reference number: SGF/PS/NCC/668 and dated October 15, 2020, was signed by the Solicitor-General of the Federation and Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Justice, Mr Dayo Apata (SAN).
Titled, ‘Notice of your removal as Chairman, Governing Board of the Nigerian’, the notice referred to an earlier letter dated September 28, 2020 which was said to have conveyed to Jaja the approval of the President for his sacking.
“Your removal is with immediate effect and you are, therefore expected to hand over all the properties of the commission in your possession to the Director-General.
“While wishing you success in your future endeavours, please accept the assurances of the warm regards and best wishes of the Honourable Attorney-General of the Federation and Mlnislcr of Justice,” the letter partly reads.
Jaja was inaugurated for a four-year tenure along with other members of he NCC board in May 2019. His sacking came about two and a half years into his tenure.
