Students of Osun State College Of Education Protest As Lecturers Embark on Strike

Students of the Osun State College of Education (OSSCE), Ila Orangun, on Thursday morning, stormed the entrance of the school, protesting over the suspension of lecturing activities in the institution.

The lecturers of the institution commenced strike since Monday, a week after the commencement of the second semester.

The students at the school gate were seen chanting solidarity song; armed with different placards, “End bad management”, Isaac Oyewole Enough is enough, OSSCE ila is going backward under your administration”.

The students said they were worried over the strike; after spending about four months at home due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

According to Students’ Union President of the institution, Olarewaju Tajudeen, it has become the custom of the college to go on strike whenever the school is preparing for examination.

The students’ union leader called the management of the college to quickly see to the demand of the lecturers in order to commence work.

I understand these students, as spending about half a year at home due to the COVID-19 pandemic has negative impact on study.
