give he or she a gum,

That sounds easier and if the person rejects it, I guess you would insist he chews the gum (for safety purposes)?... Grin
yes, i we  make sure he chew the gum,if he or she is my friend, cause i don't lack of gum in my car and handbag,

That means your charm strong well well (to be able to force someone to chew a gum against his/her wish)... Grin

you don't have to voice it out...by saying o boy you got a bad breath
you can lets the person know by you give the person toothpast and brush
or mouthwash or offer the person candy..the person will understand .

Please don't crucify me for this but personally, I find it challenging telling someone who has a bad breath that his/her mouth is smelling. I feel it would be too embarrassing. Pals, how do you tell someone in public that his/her mouth is smelling without embarrassing them?

Buy some sweets that are breath fresheners, and keep offering them to your friend.
Hopefully your friend will become addicted to them.... Cheesy
