L'Equipe's team of 2020 has been revealed and Lionel Messi was the notable absentee from the eleven stars selected by the French news outlet.
The Barcelona and Argentine forward endured a miserable year as his club missed out in the LaLiga title race and were also humiliated by Bayern Munich in the Champions League after an 8-2 thrashing.
In a 4-4-2 formation, L'Equipe decided to selected German and Bayern Munich star Manuel Neuer as goalkeeper of the year.
At the back, 20-year-old wonder-kid Alphonso Davies, Real Madrid's Sergio Ramos, and Liverpool pair Virgil van Dijk and Trent-Alexander Arnold were picked as defenders of the year.
Joshua Kimmich and former Bayern and current Liverpool star Thiago make up the centre of midfield with Paris Saint-Germain's Neymar out on the left and Manchester City's Kevin De Bruyne on the right.
At the front, Juventus striker Cristiano Ronaldo partners Robert Bayern Munich's Robert Lewandowski.
