Akwa Ibom State Government has approved Monday, February 1, 2021, as the primary and secondary schools’ resumption date.

This was disclosed in a statement signed by Mrs. Idongesit Etiebet, Commissioner for Education, made available to journalists in the state on Saturday.

Etiebet said schools would conclude the second term on April 1, 2021.

He urged parents and guardians to ensure their children were properly protected with facemasks in line with COVID-19 safety protocols.

Part of the statement read, “School authorities have been charged to ensure provision Of hand-washing facilities including running water, hand sanitizers, and thermometers.

“Students and teachers should also comply with physical distancing within the school premises and those who feel sick are advised not to come to school, but seek medical help.

The Commissioner reminded the School’s community that the State’s Education Monitoring team was committed to ensuring that these directives were not flouted.
