THERE is uneasy calm at the Lagos State police command following the disappearance of a policeman with an Ak 47 rifle and 30 rounds of ammunition.
The incident occurred at Ayobo Division, Ipaja, on the outskirts of Lagos, a few days after the man was said to have been dismissed from the Nigeria Police Force.
Saturday Tribune gathered that the Divisional Police Officer, Mr R. Isijola, a Superintendent of Police, in company with four men from his station, promptly reported the incident to Commander, Area G, Ogba, Ikeja, Mr Bolaji Akinsanya, an Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP), who expressed disappointment in the DPO.
The commander was said to have consequently informed the Commissioner of Police, Mr Marvel Akpoyibo, about the matter.
The commissioner allegedly expressed reservations about the conduct of Isijola and ordered his arrest alongside the four men in his company as well as the transfer of the case to the Criminal Investigation Department, Panti, Yaba, for investigation.
The DPO was said to have incurred the wrath of the commissioner following allegations that prior to the disappearance of the policeman, he had been close to perceived landgrabbers in the state.
A police source informed Saturday Tribune that the embattled DPO had, several times, been accused of engaging in underhand deals with landgrabbers in the cases reported against such people.
The source alleged that Isijola had done nothing to curb the activities of some land speculators at Ayobo, as one of the people was claimed to be his friend, who had built a house for him.
Saturday Tribune learnt that Isijola and the four policemen from his division have been granted bail with probe of alleged dereliction of duty opened against them.
Meanwhile, efforts are being made to arrest the fleeing policeman.

So an AK47 and 30 round of ammunition is his pension. lol lol I am telling you, the devil is rampant in Nigeria. He is not only seeking but using as well and the churches are there doing nothing but collecting tithes, marrying and getting fat off Jesus sheeps. Lord when will the manifestation of your glory be shine in Nigeria. As for this police and his cohorts they need to fess up. What is done in the dark will surely come to light because LIGHT supersedes all.
Godly WISDOM is to Fear God. His UNDERSTANDING is to resist the devil.

O! another criminal on the loose, armed to the teeth. I have said it before, if Nigeria has a very good and corrupt-free police force armed robbery would reduce by up to 80% because the police is part of the robbers.
