Anti-social behavior is prevalent in today's Nigerian society. This is evidenced by the avalanche of societal issues that occur on a regular basis. These issues, which encompass a variety of variables like as social inequality, ethnicity, inadequate resources, corruption, poverty, criminality, and other socioeconomic difficulties, afflict the whole country. The expectations of society and their actual manifestations are vastly different. There would hardly be a day that went by without some kind of social crisis being reported.

In accordance with the preceding, Osarenren (2002) stated that societal views vary because society is dynamic and changes occur often, and she provided some basic causes for anti-social behavior in the society to support her assertions. One of the reasons, according to her, is the change in society's structure as a result of the rapid transition from rural to urban and industrialization; second, there has been a serious disruption of community solidarity and the integrity of the extended family structure; and third, delinquency is on the rise in deteriorated neighborhoods.

A social issue arises when there is a significant gap between a society's aspirations and its actual achievements, according to sociology. According to this viewpoint, societal issues are caused by a failure to bridge the gap between how people desire things to be and how they really are.
Experts agree that deviation is a societal problem that may be attributed to both personal and social characteristics. According to Osarenren (2002), deviation is defined as any conduct that does not follow the laws, regulations, norms, and values of the period. In line with this viewpoint, Ajuzie (2005) argues that deviance in society should be eradicated or brought under control. She goes on to say that the best way for a society to do so is to apply knowledge to practical ends, such as corrections, the development of policies and programs for combating crime and deviance, and the reform, remobilization, and treatment of deviants.

how things are in reality (Coleman, 1999). In any scenario, some social factors are harmful (Eitzen, Smith & Baca-Zinn, 2009). These circumstances impede society's members from reaching their greatest potential. Poverty, racism, and uneven opportunity are, as a result, social problems in any social environment.
Education serves as a watchdog, ensuring that the problem of deviance is addressed and that institutional norms and laws are followed. Education has a huge influence on transformation and adjustment since information is light, transforms, and leads in the correct path. The purpose of this study is to look at the impact of social problems on secondary school students' academic performance and social adjustment. In this context, the term "deviance" comes to mind quickly since it is a phrase that is easily linked with social issues among teenagers in general and secondary school students in particular.

Before delving deeper into the study, it will be helpful to lay a solid foundation with respect to relevant accounts of social deviance issues among Nigerian youths and secondary school students. According to Osaat (1999), the current Nigeria generation has been a generation of youth restiveness and moral decadence, sporadic ethnic and religious violence, insurgent tribal youth militias, and lax enforcement of the law.

Deviance, disruptions, crises, difficulties, violence, unrest and all anti-social activities, all of which have been classed as social problems are widespread in every sector of the Nigerian country. The major objective of this study is to put attention on these difficulties with a focus on the educational sector and notably among students of senior secondary schools in Nigeria. The number of students engaging in antisocial behavior is steadily increasing. Teachers, Parents, Guardians, and the Government, as well as stakeholders in the educational system and well-intentioned Nigerians at large, face a huge problem as a result of this conduct.
