The selling and showing of movies displaying kidnappings, drug addiction, and snatching of GSM phones has been banned by the Kano Film Censorship Board.

The Board Executive Secretary, Ismaila Naaba Afakallah, said the ban has become a necessity as the “issues at stake have now turned notorious among citizens.”

He said: “Henceforth, we will not allow films displaying Kidnappings, drug addiction and GSM phones snatching which has now taken toll on Kano residents.”
Afakallah explained that the measure was aimed at curtailing the menace and reducing the possibility of young people adopting criminal acts.

He added that once viewers have seen an actor engage in these acts in movies, they will also want to indulge in the acts without “knowing they are mere make-believe.”

“Not every young man has the tenacity of understanding fictitious films actions. Somebody might mistaken it as a reality and may go-ahead to practice it, therefore, we must act now before it is too late,” he added.

Wow! this the best news I have ever heard in ages. The government of Kano is very correct on this. Most of the tactics the kidnappers  drug addiction, and snatching of GSM and other crime offenders use are being watched on movies. Most of these are watched and put into practice.

Did they really do that, or is it just a joke? But what if someone had a movie like Trainspotting in their house? Should they just burn the DVD or something?
Every time I hear about such laws, I feel so confused not only by the weirdness of such prohibition but also because they make people feel that they do something to fight such issues when they do nothing. It’s just a measure that the government uses to calm down and show people that they do something. They need to build more places like https://fherehab.com/location/alcohol-rehab-deerfield instead of just prohibiting movies.
