The Nigerian Tribune gathered that the traditional was returning from a meeting, which ended late, and decided to pass the night in his hotel.
The Nigerian Tribune learnt that his assassins shot him dead at about 2.00 a.m. Monday.
It was learnt that Eze Njoku was in the pool of his blood when security agencies came to take his remains around 7.00 a.m. on Monday. The remains had been deposited in one of the mortuaries in Owerri for autopsy.
When the Nigerian Tribune visited the Royal Suit Hotel, Aladinma, on Monday the body had been removed, while there was thick blood at the scene of the incident.
The hotel looked deserted as at the time of the visit, while the gate had been under locked and key.
Meanwhile, efforts made by the Nigerian Tribune to reach the state Commissioner of Police, Mr Aloy Okorie, and Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Mr Linus Nwaiwe, proved abortive as the commissioner was recently promoted to AIG, while the PPRO has left for a course.
